You can see the sunset from up here

At RMB Latitudes Art Fair 2026, the gallery presents You can see the sunset from up here, taking its title from a work by Sitaara Stodel. Suggesting distance, perspective, and moments of reflection, the title gestures towards the varied ways in which artists observe and interpret the world around them. The presentation brings together contemporary artists working across painting, photography, textile and sewn works, and mixed media. Through distinct material approaches and visual languages, the exhibition reflects the breadth of concerns informing contemporary artistic practice.

Moving between personal narrative, abstraction, memory, landscape, and process, the works engage with both intimate and broader social realities. Rather than focussing on a singular theme, the presentation foregrounds the coexistence of different voices, mediums, and viewpoints, offering a considered snapshot of contemporary South African art.

Participating artists include Anthony Scullion, Dayna-Gay Tate, Fanie Buys, Fiona Pole, Hedwig Barry, John Phalane, Lily Waterkeyn, Nano Le Face, Nokukhanya Charity Vilakazi, Sam Kentridge, Sitaara Stodel, Thanduxolo Nombali Phakathi, Thobile Mavuso, and Vanessa Cowling.
